How to apply for a UK Temporary Emergency Identity Citizen Card (Citizen Card)?
The Citizen Card is a temporary form of identification in the UK, valid for three years with the option to renew upon expiration. Anyone can apply for this card, and it is recognized by the UK police. In addition to the physical card, there is also an electronic version available. The Citizen Card can be used for:
Purchasing lottery tickets
Watching movies
Boarding domestic flights
Buying age-restricted items
Accessing casinos
Participating in festival activities
Job seeking
Entering bars, nightclubs, and clubs, among others
To apply for the Citizen Card, you only need to complete an online application process. The standard application fee is £15, and the processing time can take up to 21 days. If you require expedited service, the fee is £30, and it takes 1-2 working days.
Issued according to three age categories:
Adults "18+"
Young people aged 16 and above "16-17"
Children under 16 "16 and below"
Based on these age classifications, retailers and staff at entrances can easily determine whether a person has reached the age restriction for purchasing certain items or entering premises.
This card is widely recognized as the most accepted photo identification in the UK. It can help prove age and identity when visiting venues, shopping, or using transportation services.
Note: This card is considered a temporary emergency measure and cannot replace the BRP (Biometric Residence Permit). It is only valid for use in certain places and is not universally accepted. The BRP remains the only officially designated and recognized identification card by the UK government.
