The BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) card in the UK is expected to be discontinued on January 1, 2025. The specific implementation details, including the introduction of a new electronic card and related policies, will be announced earlier in 2024.
What is the UK BRP card and how can it be obtained?
There are three ways to obtain a BRP card:

According to the information on the letter accompanying the BRP, some individuals can collect it from a post office, while others can collect it from their school or have it mailed to a specified location.
Currently, some schools allow their students to collect the BRP directly from the student center. If your school permits direct collection, it is advisable to inquire about the Alternative Collection Location (ACL) code from your school before applying for a UK visa. The ACL code represents the designated area for BRP collection. You should include this code in your application. Otherwise, the collection location will be randomly assigned to a post office.

Furthermore, there is no additional cost for the Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card. If you are unsure about your exact travel date to the UK, it is important to calculate your timing before applying for a UK visa. Your entry visa to the UK will have a brief validity of 30 days, and you must arrive in the UK within this 30-day period. Otherwise, the visa will become invalid, and you will need to apply for a new short-term visa.

If you are applying for a visa within the UK, the BRP card will be directly mailed to your residential address.
