What to do if you lose your UK BRP?
The Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card in the UK is expected to be discontinued on January 1, 2025, and the specific implementation details, including the introduction of a new electronic card and related policies, will be announced earlier in 2024.
Please double-check multiple times to confirm that your BRP is indeed lost before reporting it online. Once you report it as lost, the BRP will immediately become invalid, even if you later find it.
For a lost BRP with a validity of three months or more, you must report the loss and apply for a replacement BRP online within three months. Failure to apply for a replacement online within three months may result in a fine of up to £1000. Inside the UK, it may lead to deportation, and outside the UK, you may be denied entry.
If your lost BRP has a validity of less than three months and you are currently in the UK, you may not need to apply for a replacement online, but you still need to fill out a lost report.
