Medical Examination

For Chinese international students, the UK government and universities do not have mandatory medical examination requirements. However, customs may randomly check students for a health certificate upon entry. If you do not have one, an on-site medical examination may be required. To minimize unnecessary trouble, the Education Department of the British Embassy advises everyone to undergo a medical examination in advance.

The medical examination needs to be conducted at a medical center affiliated with the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in various locations. After passing the examination, you will receive two certificates: the "International Certificate of Health Examination for Travel" and the "International Certificate of Vaccination." The former is similar to regular medical examinations and includes tests such as blood pressure, pulse rate, vision, ENT examination, and cardiac examination. The latter is a vaccination certificate conducted to prevent the spread of internationally significant infectious diseases.
