How to declare?
Reminder: The declaration process and specific details may change, so it is important to stay updated with official announcements for the latest information.
Most ports and airports in the UK have three exits or channels: the red channel, the green channel, and the blue channel. A few airports and ports have only one exit and a Red point phone for declaration.
Here's what each colored channel or exit means:
Blue channel: If you are returning to the UK from an EU country and you are carrying a compliant quantity of goods without any prohibited items, you do not need to declare. You can directly go through the blue channel, although customs may occasionally conduct random checks.
Green channel: If you are arriving in the UK from a non-EU country and you are not carrying cash or goods exceeding the specified limits, prohibited items, or items intended for commercial use, you can use this channel. However, customs may randomly inspect a portion of the luggage to verify its contents.
Red channel or Red point phone: This refers to declaring goods to UK customs (Declare Goods to Customs). If you are carrying cash, goods, or commercial products exceeding the specified limits, you need to go through the red channel or use the Red point phone for declaration.
