What to do if your Chinese passport expires in August but your studies in the UK only finish in September?

 

A handsome young man asked Ten Sheng Miao about his situation. His passport expires in August 2020, but his course in the UK doesn't finish until September 2020. What should he do? Will it have any implications?

 

Ten Sheng Miao answers: Don't worry. As long as your BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) student visa is not expired, you just need to go to the embassy in advance to get a new passport. Make sure to keep the old passport safe and not lose it, as it may still be useful, such as during checks or other purposes.

 

It's worth noting that the BRP biometric information card is expected to be phased out by January 1, 2025. The specific implementation details, including the introduction of a new electronic card and related policies, will be announced earlier in 2024.
