Can I participate in the graduation ceremony in the UK after resits or retaking exams?

A few students have sent private messages to Ten Sheng Miao with the following questions:

  1. If I fail a module in the UK, can I still participate in the      graduation ceremony?

  2. Can I attend the graduation ceremony in the UK if I haven't      received my degree certificate?

  3. If I pass my resits or retake exams in the UK, can I      participate in the graduation ceremony?

Ten Sheng Miao answers: Except for the second question, where you haven't received your degree certificate, you can participate in the graduation ceremony in the UK for all other situations. In the UK, as long as you have successfully completed your program and obtained the necessary qualifications, you are eligible to attend the graduation ceremony.

If you initially failed a module but passed it upon resitting or retaking the exam, and subsequently graduated successfully, you can make an advance reservation for the graduation ceremony. Ten Sheng Miao reminds you that only those who have successfully made a reservation can attend the ceremony. The seating arrangements and the order in which students' names are called during the ceremony are predetermined. Students will need to queue and follow the instructions accordingly.

However, there may be some cases where students face a different situation. For example, if you had to retake exams in 2018 but didn't graduate successfully that year, and finally passed all retakes and graduated in 2019, you can still participate in the graduation ceremony. Just follow the steps outlined in Ten Sheng Miao's guide on how to participate in a UK graduation ceremony and register accordingly.
