The UK airport was subjected to customs duties.
During vacations, many people like to visit neighboring countries such as France, Germany, Italy, and so on. Some items that are unavailable or cheaper in the UK are often purchased locally. In such cases, when returning to the UK, it is important to remember not to have too many receipts or boxes of the same item. It is advisable to choose late night hours or try to avoid entering through Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport. In recent years, UK customs have frequently imposed taxes on Chinese or foreign nationals, so the probability of Chinese or foreign nationals being selected for inspection is relatively high, especially based on your attire and the brand of your luggage.
When entering the country, try to walk with the crowd and avoid looking at the staff or making eye contact. I once glanced at a staff member when entering Heathrow, and they immediately called me over for a baggage inspection. Most of the people who are stopped for inspection are of Asian appearance, and the staff members are tall and strong. However, they will not help you carry your luggage to the additional inspection counter. They will patiently wait for you to figure out how to lift it up yourself. Discrimination can exist anywhere in the world at any time. Polite smiles do not necessarily indicate respect and goodwill. Do not hold any illusions about human nature. As long as there are no violations, you will be allowed to proceed. Items that do not meet the requirements will be taxed, items brought in violation will be confiscated, and items of significant violation will lead to further inspection in a separate room.
Generally speaking, small quantities of personal use items of low value are unlikely to be taxed. This also applies to items that are being worn or declared properly.
Currently, airports with a high probability of not being taxed are Manchester and London City.
Reminder: Being taxed does not only refer to the original tax amount that should be paid for the item but also includes additional fines.
