What email should I use to contact UK universities? What email should I use when abroad?

A reminder from Shisheng Meow: It is recommended to avoid using QQ or 163 email accounts to communicate with some UK universities via email, as there have been cases of emails being intercepted or not received. This issue has been observed for several years. Shisheng Meow discovered this and registered a Gmail account, as well as a Hotmail account. Currently, new Gmail users may experience their emails being mistaken for spam and placed in the junk folder, including receiving emails being misclassified. Therefore, everyone should remember to check their junk folder.

So, what email accounts are recommended for sending emails to foreign universities, institutions, or individuals?

1. Gmail (for use outside of China; additional methods are required if used within China)

2. Microsoft Hotmail or Outlook (can be used both within and outside of China)

3. Apple iCloud (for iCloud users)

Shisheng Meow has used all three accounts mentioned above. As an Apple user since iPhone 4 to the current iPhone 11, Shisheng Meow found that iCloud is convenient for sending emails directly from the phone, without the need to repeatedly enter the recipient's email address. However, the most frequently used email account by Shisheng Meow is Gmail, followed by Hotmail/Outlook.

In the first image, there is a reminder message from the University of Warwick, located in Coventry, UK. In fact, many universities, including Coventry University in Coventry, have issued similar reminders advising against using these email accounts, as shown in the second image.
