First step, prepare the application materials.

Application materials checklist:

  1. A completed application form (Signed application form)

  1. The application form must be the latest version V5.0 of the Kao      Da application form from 2019.

  2. The application form for the Coventry University campuses      including the Coventry campus, London campus, and Coventry University      College is the same.

  3. The third page of the application form must be handwritten and      signed, matching the signature in the passport.

  4. If you have previously been to the UK (including for study or      tourism), provide complete information in the relevant section.

  5. Clearly state the campus you wish to study at.

  6. Clearly state your intended start date. The available intake      quarters are January, May, and September.

  7. If you are applying through an agent, provide the agent's      information and contact details.

2. Official academic transcript (in both Chinese and English)

  1. Fresh graduates can provide their most recent academic      transcript.

  2. Graduates must provide a complete academic transcript,      including all courses and grades.

  3. If the academic transcript is issued in China, it should bear      the official seal of the school in both Chinese and English.      Alternatively, a translation with the seal of a translation company or      agent can be provided. It is preferable to have the average grade      mentioned on the transcript. If your transcript is originally in English      from a foreign institution, there is no need for translation.

  4. If the transcript includes scores such as '优良中差' (excellent, good, fair, poor) or 'ABCD,' it is best to      provide the school's grading criteria or conversion method for such      scores.

3. Graduation certificate, degree certificate, or studying certificate (in both Chinese and English)

  1. Fresh graduates can provide a studying certificate issued by      the school's academic affairs office.

  2. Graduates must provide their graduation certificate and degree      certificate. If the certificates are issued by a foreign institution, use      the latest one.

  3. If the certificates are issued in China, translations should      bear the official seal of the school or a translation company/agent. If      the certificates are originally in English from a foreign institution,      there is no need for translation.

  4. If providing a studying certificate, it must be printed on      school letterhead and include the applicant's name and major (for Hong      Kong students, use the name as stated in the passport).

  5. If unable to obtain the degree certificate temporarily due to      certain reasons, a completion certificate issued by the school should be      provided.

4. Personal statement

  1. The personal statement should not exceed 2 pages. Generally, 2      pages is considered optimal, and that's what I wrote as well.

  2. The content of the personal statement should primarily include      your past experiences, academic background, and future plans. It is      especially important to explain why you have chosen this particular field      of study and why you have selected this specific school.

  3. If you wish to change your major during the application      process, you will need to provide a new personal statement.

5. References

  1. For undergraduate, top-up, or visiting student applications,      only one academic reference letter written by a teacher is required.

  2. For master's degree applications, two reference letters are      required. If the applicant has relevant work experience (graduates, MBA),      one reference letter from the employer and one academic reference letter      can be provided.

  3. The reference letters must be printed on the official      letterhead of the recommender's organization and signed by the      recommender. They should include the recommender's position, telephone      number, and email address.

6. Language proficiency scores

  1. Currently, Coventry University accepts three language      proficiency tests: IELTS, PTE, and internal testing.

  2. It is important to note that TOEFL and TOEIC test scores are      not accepted. Since September 2014, all UK institutions do not accept      these scores.

  3. At the time of submitting the application, it is acceptable to      not have an IELTS score. However, if you have an IELTS score, please      include a scanned copy of the IELTS score report along with other      application materials. The IELTS score report must clearly display the TRF      number.

  4. Verify that your IELTS score is still valid. IELTS scores are      valid for 2 years. If more than 2 years have passed, the score is no      longer valid.

7. Passport

  1. If you do not have a passport yet, it is not necessary to      provide one.

  2. If you have previous experience of studying in the UK, you can      include the previous UK visa pages and the Biometric Residence Permit      (BRP) card (if available) along with your application. Please include both      the front and back sides of the BRP card.

  3. When submitting a scanned copy of your passport, please ensure      that it is still valid. Expired passports are not accepted

8. Additional documents

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV): This is optional. If you have      significant work experience, you may submit an English CV, approximately      1-2 pages long. Please ensure it does not exceed 2 pages.

  2. Employment Certificate: This is required for MBA program      applications, particularly for those applying to the Coventry campus. You      must provide a bilingual employment certificate, printed on the official      letterhead of your employer, with the company seal and the signature of      relevant authorities. The employment certificate must include the duration      of your employment and your job position.

  3. Portfolio: If applying for art or design programs, a portfolio      is mandatory for both undergraduate and graduate programs. The portfolio      should be in PDF, PPT, or accessible via a web link. If using PDF or PPT,      it is recommended to keep the file size below 10MB.

If you have received academic awards at the national level, you may provide relevant certificates (both in Chinese and English).

Application Document Format:

  1. All application documents must be in PDF or Word format.

  2. All application materials can be combined into a single PDF      file. If separate files are used, each document should be named in      English.

  3. Please do not compress or package the application materials to      avoid issues with opening or losing files.

  4. The total file size of the application documents should not      exceed 10MB.

  5. All materials must be clear and legible. Unclear documents may      affect the processing time and require resubmission.

Application Procedure:

  1. For language course applications, only the IELTS score needs to      be submitted, and no application form is required.

  2. Undergraduate applications can be submitted without using UCAS.

  3. Once all the materials are prepared, submit them to the China      Office of Coventry University.

  4. Emails sent to the China Office must be in English.

  5. It is recommended to use QQ email instead of Netease email.

Application Processing Time:

After receiving the application, the university will typically provide a decision within 3-5 working days. If no response is received after this period, you can inquire via phone or email.

Application Email Template:

To facilitate the application process, we have prepared a simple email template for applicants. It is provided for reference purposes only
