Sci-hub免费论文¶
Sci-Hub unblocked, celebrating its 10th anniversary on September 5th, Alexandra Elbakyan will upload over 2.33 million new articles to Sci-Hub. The Sci-Hub database already contains nearly 88 million freely accessible research papers. Sci-Hub will undergo six improvements: 1) Adding keyword and topic search functionality; 2) Introducing an AI-driven engine; 3) Fully open-sourcing Sci-Hub; 4) Making Sci-Hub legal; 5) Expanding the inclusion of published papers until it encompasses all; 6) Launching a mobile app.
How to use Sci-Hub to download academic papers for free? What should you do if you don't have a URL or DOI?
I can't believe I have to pay to download my own research paper!
Firstly, Sci-Hub is an online academic database highly recommended for research and writing papers, where anyone can download academic papers for free.
Sci-Hub has gained popularity among the academic community, especially among students.
The story goes that Sci-Hub was established by Alexandra Elbakyan, a Kazakhstani graduate student, in 2011. While conducting research and writing papers, she discovered that each paper download required payment ranging from tens to hundreds of dollars (similar to well-known websites like CNKI that charge for access to articles, even for downloading one's own papers). Given the high cost of conducting research and obtaining papers, which could amount to hundreds or even thousands of dollars, the student became angry. She questioned the justification for these fees and wondered who was actually paying the authors. In response, she founded Sci-Hub with the aim of providing free access to various papers and literature that are otherwise behind paywalls on other platforms.
Due to its disruption of certain interests, the Sci-Hub website is frequently blocked, and its social media accounts have been suspended. In January 2021, Twitter suspended Sci-Hub's account citing the presence of pirated papers. As a result, the website's URL often changes, adopting a guerrilla-like approach by switching domains periodically.
Sci-Hub is the first known website to provide a vast collection of free access to paid academic papers. As of 2017, a researcher from the University of Pennsylvania discovered that the website hosted up to 81.6 million papers, covering 69% of all academic papers, effectively meeting the majority of paper requirements.
So how do you use Sci-Hub?
First, log in to the following link.
https://sci-hub.se
https://sci-hub.st
https://sci-hub.do
https://sci-hub.shop
https://scihub.wikicn.top
As of now, the above-mentioned links are still valid, but they can change at any time. It is recommended to use a scientific method of accessing the internet (you know, that auxiliary tool). If you still can't access the links, try searching on Google and browsing through the results.
Note: All the information provided is as of February 11, 2021. The mentioned websites have been stable for a long time, but there is a possibility of them being changed at any time.
2,
Find the URL or DOI of the article.
URL refers to the web address, while DOI is a string of numbers or alphanumeric characters that starts with "10.".
Note: Some articles may not have a DOI starting with "10.", or it may be hidden in the page's source code. Therefore, when searching for it, you can use search tools.
For example, let's say you randomly log in to a website where you need to pay to download articles or other literature.
:
https://www.sciencedirect.com
Shisheng Miao plans to download an article titled "Flexibility in marketing & sales interfacing processes" from Sciencedirect.
(1)
Find the URL of the article
:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0019850120308361
(2)
Alternatively, find the DOI of the article, such as
:
10.1016/j.indmarman.2020.09.005
Enter any of the above into the search box on Sci-Hub, as shown in the following image.
URL
DOI
After clicking on the search button, you will be able to see the free articles as shown below.
What if there is neither a URL nor a DOI?
Shisheng Miao reminds you that not every website provides a DOI for the articles, and sometimes the URL cannot be searched on Sci-Hub.
For example, APA journals do not provide either of them, rendering them inaccessible. However, there is another way to find articles. The solution is to first open https://search.crossref.org, and then enter the title or author to search. Once you find the article, you will be able to access the DOI.
Suppose I am still looking for the aforementioned article "Flexibility in marketing & sales interfacing processes" from ScienceDirect, but there is no URL or DOI available. In this case, when you open https://search.crossref.org and enter the article's title, you can search for the DOI of this article, as shown in the following image.
Alright, everyone has learned it, right? It's super easy, and Sci-Hub is incredibly useful. Whether you're an undergraduate, master's, or doctoral student, you can access content that would otherwise require payment for free. Here, Shisheng Miao wishes you all the best in the Year of the Ox.
