How to download academic resources from CNKI, Wanfang, and other websites for free?

Reminder: If you are a student, generally, universities in China provide free access to resources like CNKI or other academic websites for students. Some universities even offer science accounts specifically for students to access free resources. However, these are mainly intended for academic research and learning materials from external sources.
So, what can non-students do if they want to download resources from CNKI, Wanfang, or other websites for free?
Answer: The official websites of libraries in various cities in China usually provide access to these resources. You only need to obtain a library card from them. Some libraries allow online registration, while others may require in-person registration. Specific requirements may vary depending on each library. Some libraries may require a deposit, while others may not, so it's important to check the specific regulations of each local library.
For example, let's discuss libraries in five different locations.
Note: Online libraries are not typically restricted by geographical location or other factors. In general, you can register and access resources from libraries in different regions online. For instance, if I am based in Chengdu but want to use resources from Zhejiang Library, I can follow their online registration requirements and obtain a library card to access their resources online.
Zhejiang Library.

Zhejiang Library allows online registration for obtaining a library card, and if your Sesame Credit score on Alipay is above 550, you can be exempted from the deposit requirement. With the library card, you can access and download resources from CNKI and other platforms for free. These resources can be viewed on a computer, and if you prefer to read them on a mobile device, you can follow Zhejiang Library's official WeChat account to access them online.
To register for a Zhejiang Library reader's card:
If your Sesame Credit score is above 550, open Alipay and search for "Zhejiang Library."
Click on the second option, "Zhejiang Library = Life Account," as shown in the image below.
Next, click on "Reading" and then select "Apply for a Reader's Card."
After successful registration, click on "Claim Zhejiang Library Reader's Card immediately."
Once claimed, the reader's card will be available in your Alipay Wallet.
Then, log in to the official website of Zhejiang Library：https://www.zjlib.cn/
Click on the "Digital Resources" section on the official webpage, and you can search for the desired resources based on your preferences, including CNKI, Fangzheng, Wanfang, and more. Alternatively, you can search by alphabetical order.
Note: If you encounter difficulties accessing the page, try refreshing it several times or wait for some time before trying again. This could be due to high user traffic and server issues. Additionally, it's worth noting that the same article may be searchable when logged into the official CNKI website, but not accessible through the library's CNKI portal. This is because the library's CNKI portal may be a local mirror site, which may have slower update speeds compared to the main CNKI website.

As long as you are a registered reader of the Sichuan Provincial Library, once you log in to the digital collection portal system, you can access various digital resources anytime and anywhere!

1、Login：http://portal.sclib.org，alternatively, you can visit the official website of the Sichuan Provincial Library and click on the entrance to the Sichuan Provincial Library Digital Collection Portal.
2. Upon reaching the login interface, enter your reader's card number, password, verification code, etc., and click on "Login".
3. Scroll down, and you will see different types of digital resource databases. Click on any of the databases to enter, search for specific resources, and you can freely browse and download the materials you need for free.
As an example, let's say you enter the "CNKI Academic Journals" database. Input "Quantum Mechanics" in the search bar, click on "Search," and select a specific resource. You will be able to browse or download that resource for free!

2. Open WeChat and scan the QR code for the Sichuan Provincial Library card registration mini program.
3. Enter the card registration mini program and click on "Apply for a library card."
